    Burlington Home Energy Tour

Tour Burlington energy-efficient homes on Saturday, October 7.
    The Vermod

Join us on Saturday, October 7, 10:00am-1:00pm for this self-guided tour of energy efficient Burlington homes. Visit one or all of these open houses for inspiration on how to reduce your own heating and cooling costs while living comfortably.  Learn from Burlington home owners who are using solar, heat pump technology, and in-home energy devices plus weatherization to keep their Burlington homes warm in winter and cool in summer. Biking, carpooling, and car sharing recommended!  Sponsored by BED, Local Motion, the Vermont Green Building Network and Car Share Vermont, this event promises to be fun, rewarding and inspiring for all.

    • 6 Proctor Street: 19th century cottage refurbished using “passive house” standards to ensure maximum energy efficiency. This home uses no natural gas and is one of Burlington’s first “net zero” properties.
    • 66 Cherry Lane: Classic ranch-style home, complete with solar panels and heat pump technology, generates more electricity than it consumes and uses a home energy dashboard to provide real-time energy data to its occupants.
    • Ave. B: This North Ave. Co-op zero energy modular (ZEM) home, built here in Vermont by Vermod Homes, is designed for durability, energy efficiency, comfort, and superior indoor air quality.  Available for purchase, this small cottage-style home provides an affordable option to low-income homebuyers with savings that last the life of the home.
    • 54 Locust St: Newly constructed small home in the Sister’s Neighborhood includes solar with heat pump technology and is designed for comfort and energy efficient living.
    • 26 Colonial Square: Built in 1940, classic colonial boasts a cold climate heat pump and heat pump water heater, solar panels and more.
