Peak Alert!

TODAY/WEDNESDAY is a Peak Day! Please reduce your energy usage on Wednesday, July 17 from 4:00-7:00pm and, together, let's "Defeat the Peak!"

Burlingtonians can lend a hand by taking the following steps:

  • Raising thermostat temperatures or turning off air conditioners and waiting until after 7:00pm to return thermostats and air conditioners to previous settings;
  • Delaying use of washing machines, clothing dryers, dishwashers, and other appliances until after 7:00pm;
  • Turning off non-essential lights until after 7:00pm; and
  • Delaying other discretionary electric consumption until after 7:00pm.

And, when we hit our targeted amount of load reduction, Vermont Works for Women will be awarded $1,000.

Reducing electric usage during a peak is a triple win for Burlington, as it helps keep your electricity costs low, protect the environment, and provide immediate support to our community nonprofits.
